Continuation of established publication methods!
Research papers on the biology and ecology of beetles of the Curculionoidea superfamily have been published since 1999 in English, French, Spanish, Italian and German in the WEEVIL NEWS, the internet portal of the CURCULIO Institute. Beginning in 2010, short papers (like first descriptions) on the taxonomy of Curculionoidea will also be published here.
From January 1st, 2010 onwards, such nomenclature-relevant and other WEEVIL NEWS publications will be issued as PDF files (ISO standard 19005-1:2005). These contributions will be available for anyone for download from our homepage (open access). The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature intends and specifies "that the only acceptable means of producing physical copies is by printing on paper using ink or toner." Accordingly, all nomenclature-relevant contributions will be clearly labelled as ICZN-compatible versions and will correspond to the original form and content of the printed version on paper.
These short papers for the WEEVIL NEWS should have the appearance of traditional scientific journals. Besides line drawings, a limited number of black-and-white and colour photographs may be published to an extent they can be integrated into the layout of the journal and they easily can printed by our readers. Reviewers and editors will provide the authors with collegial advice in the time-proven manner.
As in the past - and if the author wants to do - brief biological, ecological and faunistical articles and observations as well as reports on field trips and conference reports can be published as interactive contributions without a limitation of scientific illustrations. These articles are not delivered as a paper version of course, but they are transferred and archived - together with the large and rich illustrated, interactive articles in
SNUDEBILLERonline - to the SNUDEBILLER CD at the end of the year as usual.
