Study group Acalles
The study group Acalles was founded in 1997 as a
cooperative group of scientists sharing interests. Since 1999 it exists as
a permanent study group in the Curculio-Institute. Today eight colleagues
from different European countries belong to the group. The purpose is the
research on taxonomy, biology and ecology of Western Palearctic
Cryptorhynchinae. In the beginning the overdue taxonomic revision of the
confused genus Acalles was in the fore. From today's standpoint
ecological and biological contributions (e. g. on the developmental stages
of Cryptorhynchinae) are in demand and an interdisciplinary orientation
becomes more important. Field trips as well as joint projects (at present
the Macaronesian Islands) are planned and undertaken by the study group.
The scientific results are published together. If you are interested in
closer acquaintance and a collaboration with our team please contact the
Curculio-Institute (CURCI/Stüben)! We are still looking for many new
colleagues from all countries in Europe to improve the efficiency of our
work!
