Excerpt from the statutes of the CURCULIO-Institute, Name, seat, purpose and field of activity

§1
The institution bears the name „Curculio-Institute (CURCI)“. The seat is in Viersen (Germany).

§2
The purpose of the institute is to support the entomology, especially taxonomy/systematology, biology and ecology of Curculionoidea (Coleoptera). The CURCI serves the research and protection of weevils and their host plants. It particularly supports all efforts of conservation of weevil habitats in European countries.
The purpose of the statutes is particularly put into effect by:

I. Support of scientific exchange between members and of researchings on suggestion of the CURCI,
II. Technical overseeing and support of the members during starting, extending and analysing of their scientific collection of Curculionoidea,
III. Cooperation with scientific institutions and issuing statements on problems of nature protection,
IV. Publishing of important scientific publications,
V. Organisation of meetings, scientific discussions and lectures,
VI. The upkeep of a scientific library.

Membership

§3
3.1a. Active members of CURCULIO-Institute are inaugural members and such natural and juristic persons being qualified for working at the institute exceptionally. Only the annual general meeting of the active members is legitimated to make proposals for the election of new active members. The appointment of new active members requires unanimity. If proposals concerning the appointment of new active members are rejected more than twice, a three-quarter majority will be sufficient. The expulsion of members of the institute requires a three-quarter majority. Only active members are legitimated to make applications. Only active members have the right to vote on the annual general meeting.
3.1b. All members coming from countries belonging to the West Palearctic have the right to propose new active members. Every five members per country one active member can be send to the annual general meeting. Proposals of country-representatives can only be accepted at the annual general meeting with relative majority.
